Breaking new records in web usage and reader and advertiser revenue
There are some people who will get the credit, and you could make the case that this should be no one but you. It’s your work. And you deserve full credit for the success of The Times, but here I must take another path.
There are some people who will get the credit, and you could make the case that this should be no one but you. It’s your work. And you deserve full credit for the success of The Times, but here I must take another path.
The key for me to grasp The Times is that my editors and I had one job: to deliver readers to advertisers. We worked with advertisers to create a platform and a web presence that was unique and exciting for them, and they came to us and asked to sponsor our content.
We worked hard to create a new way of covering politics and to provide the best news and information about news that the world needed to know. I was not alone in this ambition, because readers began to turn to The Times early on, and the newsroom and advertising staff worked hard to create the world’s best-read, best-read news website. And if we said so ourselves, we’d be willing to live up to that title.
